Lake Placid Dam November Project Summary

November 10, 2023

Date of Report: November 10, 2023

Recent Activities:

The work bridge has been completed. Installation of the sheet piling for the cofferdam has started in bay 1 (i.e., the northern most bay/gate). The existing cableway bridge that spanned over the width of the dam has been removed. Work has continued on dam armoring (currently on the northeast side of the dam). The intermediate grade beam in dam armoring concrete placement has been started.

During the past month, Sundt has encountered additional concrete and other rubble on the upstream side of the existing dam that was going to interfere with installation of the cofferdams. The company had to bring in an excavator with a long boom to remove the concrete/debris. This resulted in a change order to the contract that added $29,296.74 to the contract amount as well as seven (7) additional days, which revises the Substantial Completion Date to May 14, 2025. Sundt is looking at their project schedule to evaluate ways to recover some, if not all, of these days in their work ahead.

Upcoming:

In the next several weeks, we expect (1) continued work to drive sheet piling for the cofferdam in bay 1; (2) to seal bay 1 cofferdam and dewater; (3) to relocate wildlife in bay 1 cofferdam; (4) continued dam armoring activities; and (5) to begin electrical demolition work.

Updated Substantial Completion Date: May 14, 2025
